2019 Renegade

This blend of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Petite Verdot was aged in French oak for 18 months. This is a wine you won’t want to miss!

Renegade is a selection of the best barrels of the vintage, creating a complex wine in the style of a fine Bordeaux. The colour is garnet red with a deep dark core. The nose is tightly wound at first with dark cherry and cola notes leading to cedar and damp forest aromas. Hints of fresh ground coffee and tart red currants, with grenadine and black licorice to round out the nose. The palate is expansive with black forest cake and black tea, sour cherry, before showing some orange notes of Campari or bitters. The second sip shows the local desert scrub with notes of sage and a herbal edge that will evolve nicely. Although approachable in its youth, this wine has plenty of structure for the long haul. Drink now or over the next 5-10 years.
