2014 Family Reserve FiaFortified Wine
A fiery red-brown tawny coloured wine made from a specific low-yielding patch in our traditional Port grape blocks. This tawny style Port has a beautiful bouquet of walnut, roasted almonds and dried fruit. A lusciously smooth, mouth-watering palate of brandied fruit, honey and spice.
A co-fermentation Merlot 60% and Syrah 40%, alcohol fortification on the skins and then punched through, fortified must pressed and aged in barrel for 48 months. Alcohol is made from distilled Maverick Estate grapes prepared by Maple Leaf Spirits in Penticton, British Columbia. This brandy spirit is aged for 12 months in oak before it is used for fortification.
